Why I built bookonline.ink
This is the part of the site where a company tells you how passionate they are about the tattoo industry. How they're curing cancer. Solving world hunger.
(We all know they're in it for the money.)
The blunt reality
- Would I like to earn the freedom to spend more time with my daughter?
- Yes.
- Would I like online-booking for tattoos to feel like booking a f****** tattoo?
- Absolutely.
- Do I want tattoo artists to think I'm cool?
- Also yes.
My main motivation:
I WANT FREE TATTOOS.
Barter with me. This is a totally selfish project and a dubious scheme to get better deals on your beautiful art.
How we get rich as f***
- More bookings. Then less admin.
Two ways any shop makes more money: more clients, or less time on the phone. We're going after the first. Your link is built to turn a looker into a booking, your flash sells itself, and your past clients hear first when your books open or a drop lands. The time you save on DMs comes free with it.
- Deposits in the bank. Fewer no-shows.
Get paid sooner, and clients have skin in the game. Clients pay a deposit towards their final price to lock in a slot on your calendar, which makes them more likely to show up and gets you your money faster.
- Refer another artist? Get paid forever.
When you get another artist to sign up and take deposits through us, you get a third of our fee on every deposit they take, for as long as they take them. Permanent residual income.
- Affiliate marketing.
Every client sees an aftercare product of your choice after they book. Take deposits through us and that link will become yours. Got merch? We'll promote that too. Your link, your money, no cut.
Start making money
How Tattware makes money
We know there are plenty of ways around paying us. That's on purpose. The money we make from artists should come out of a business partnership you chose, where we support each other, not something you feel trapped into.
Your call: Pick one if you're down for the cause.
- Deposits through bookonline.ink. A small booking fee on the deposits we secure for you. You decide who pays it: the client, out of your cut, or a split half and half.
- Affiliate marketing on your link. We recommend aftercare lotions and products like that, and the lotion company pays us a small cut of the sale, until you take deposits through us and the link becomes yours.
When a client pays a deposit through bookonline.ink, the fee is 5% of it, never under $5 and never over $39.
Keep Venmo and we make nothing.
Card processing (2.9% + 30¢, the card networks' cut) comes out as well, and you pick who pays that too.
Your first 90 days on bookonline.ink Payments: no fee on deposits for anyone, you or your clients. From then on, the schedule above.
Deposits land in your bank in about two days.
Our fee stops at $143 a month per artist; past that, the rest of the month is card processing only.
Make money while you sleep
Every time a shop you brought here takes a deposit through us, you get paid.
Your cut starts when their free months end, and we send it on the 3rd of each month once it reaches $25; it's in your bank about two days later.
| Deposit | Total fee | Software | Your cut |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to $100 | $5 (the floor) | $3 | $2 |
| $500 | $25 | $17 | $8 |
| $780 and up | $39 (the cap) | $26 | $13 |
The fine print, if you're into that sort of thing
Your cut: a third of our fee, in whole dollars, on every deposit an artist or shop you referred takes, for as long as they take them.
A walk-in day's VIP list: your client pays the piece plus one "Skip the line" line, our 5% of the piece's price (never under $5, never over $39) plus the card processing on what they pay. You get the whole price of the piece; the line is outside your free days and your monthly ceiling, since you pay none of it.
The 5% changes only in public, on the schedule.
